Rosehearty is a small fishing town a few miles west of Fraserburg, Aberdeenshire, UK. Jim’s maternal great-grandmother, Jemima Ritchie, was born near here in the late 1890’s. Amazingly, Jemima and her sisters Mary and Jessie all showed up in San Diego within the next 30 years, married to US Navy sailors! Guess the cold North Sea climate didn’t hold their interest like sunny southern California!

Nearby, the old Pitsligo castle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitsligo_Castle) shows what it was like to be on the wrong side of a war with England. The town has been featured in Undiscovered Scotland (https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/rosehearty/rosehearty/index.html).
